Transmission and Differential Oil changes..When do you guys perform them ??

My car didn't come with an onwer's manual lol so I'm just wondering when(if you ever have)do you guys change your tranny and differential oils ? I know that if you feel any abnormalities while shifting u would obviously change your tranny fluid....what I mean is in terms of keeping the car healthy(ie. oil change every 3K).

Any tips and advice would be appreciated!! Thanks!

Interval depends on how you drive the car.
I might change mine every 10K-15K miles as a daily driver while someone who autox or is an aggressive driver might do it sooner.
And we do recommend changing the oil if you experience abnormal shifting.

You can get the full manual from www.mazdausa.com.

I change the trans fluid every year, the rear every other year. That is more than you have to, but maybe that is why my trans has never had an issue in 138,000 miles ??

Also depends on your budget. Cheaper if you can do the labor yourself. If you have a garage/space and the tools, there are DIYs on here.

I thought our manuals said every 60K (don't quote me), but at the minimum, I'd change at every 30K servicing along with new spark plugs and coils.

Just to keep in mind. Differential fluid can be GL-5. Mazda now recommends only GL-4 for the transmission in the 2009+ manuals. There is a debate whether GL-5 can be used. Some use it and have no problems. I stuck with GL-4 just in case. Redline and AMSOIL are the most popular GL-4. Do a search.

I did both of mine (with Redline) at 20k miles (I'm only at 25k now on my '05). I'll probably do it again in a couple years.

I agree with Expo (he is a guy who has been there and done that and you can trust his views)...

In OZ I think it is every 40 or 60,000 KMS, 24 or 36,000 Miles.

I use Redline MT90 for trans and 75W90 for Diff, I know after a year and 10,000 Miles later my gear change is not quite a smooth, and I will be renewing soon, even though Redline say their Synthetic Gear Oils are good for 200,000!!

122,000 miles on my MT '04 with no problems (trans or rear). I change my trans fluid with BG Synchroshift II about every 30k and the rear about every 60k.

But thanks to those frequent changes with Redline you shift so lightning fast you've blown a motor.

btw: notice on the MT-90 label "perfect synchro coefficient of friction" and "lengthens synchro life."
