Starting an 8?

Long story short, I bought an automatic '05 8 about 6 months ago and just had the engine replaced at 40K miles. The mechanic told me that there is a specific way to start the car (not the engine warming first) and that he would give me instructions when I picked up my car. He was gone when I got there and he is out of town for a week. Anyone know what he was talking about?

There is a special start procedure IF THE CAR IS FLOODED. Otherwise, you start just like any other car. The information should be in the owners guide. If you don't have the owners manual you can download it from mymazda.com.

before cranking the car, you have to tickle the OBDII with a dongle. If a screen doesn't light up that says "accessport," you're doing it wrong. this is a must know for every rx8 owner.

MD

after following myriadshalaks instructions, if i doesn't work. get out of the car, smack it in the rear it should beep twice. if it beeps once smack it again, if it beeps twice stick your arm in the right tail pipe for 23 seconds. Proceed to get around the passenger side of the vehicle and apologize for trying to start her too fast. Get in the car, beep the horn once. Stick the key in and turn the wheel to the right. Put the shifter in the Any position and crack it. Allow it to sit for 2 minutes. This is the procedure outlined in the japanese edition users manual, I translated the best I could, my japanese may be a bit rusty though.

But serious, don't start it up and drive away. Allow it to sit for a minute at least to warm up, its the polite thing to do.

Yea I knew about the engine warming and flooding deal. I think the mechanic is full of **** obviously. Tnx for your non-smartass answer.
