some common annoyances solved :)

Hello
Just thought I would shared some experiences of solving some regular annoyances with my rx8.

Chirping sound on cold start: My coils, plugs, battery and starter were all in good condition and like other owners I still had the chirp on cold startup (intermittently).
I decided to try some forte injector treatment, this was recommended by a friend and a had to visit a local garage to purchase some as this is only sold to the trade.
The mechanic advised me to run my tank down until the fuel light comes on and then pour in the treatment, and drive the car for as long as I dare.
Wow what a difference! the idle was much better, the engine pulled really strong and best of all it didn't smell the place out at idle or cold start. It also cured my MIAC sound when cold or hot.

I have seen many complaints on this site about people with the same issues, the ignition system is always mentioned but people seem to miss the injectors.
I was sceptical over the injector treatment but as the mechanic pointed out many treatments only claim to HELP clean the injectors, Forte say that their treatment will actually remove varnish and contaminants from the fuel system.

Hiss high pitch whistle at around 3000rpm when cruise or light acceleration: I removed the upper intake manifold and throttle body to clean my SSV and decided to use RTV on the mating faces and this completely cured the whistling noise.

I also changed the upstream o2 sensor as at 66,000 miles I read that they loose their accuracy, OMG what a huge difference! After these three steps I took the car drives like brand new, the engine is smooth as silk when driving.

Hope this helps as I have noticed a lot of people describing the same issues that I have experienced.

Thanks

Antony

you should not drive your car below a 1/4 tank but hey you are about due for a fuel pump anyway.

Hi
Generally I don't but the treatment I put into the tank needs to be as concentrated as possible.

Thanks
