Unhappy Sigh First Poster New Car

Hey guys, just purchased a 05 RX8 a few days ago and i've been driving it around. Now the first to second gear transition i'm finding is often times very difficult and requires some serious slamming to get it into gear. Reminds me almost of a Lotus Elise. Is it this way on all RX8's? I hate being such a noob to things, but i'll learn with time.

Is the tranny this stiff on all of the cars? I don't mind it, but I wouldn't like to find out something major could be wrong.

I appreciate your time, by the way it has 23k miles so its still under warranty

Well, mine was doing that about 3 weeks ago. Although my problem was in 3rd and 4th gear. It would be really tough to get it in gear and/or it would grind a little bit. Took it to mazda and they put new 3rd and 4th gears in it and replaced the synchros on both gears. Thank god for warranty!

No slamming needed on mine. Take it to the dealer.

Does it grind when shifting?
Is the 05 New or used?

Mine grinds 1st to 2nd but only if I pull out without warming it up. Once it's warm it does fine. It doesn't need slammed though. I'd take it to the dealer for a checkup. Good Luck

Mine used to do that in the cold but I switched to synthetic gear lube and the shifts are smooth even at -23C (Below 0F)

Well I live in FL so its never cold, and It only happens at really high RPMs. I am going to take it into the dealer soon. and 05 yes used. Only started acting up very recently. Otherwise sometimes shifts real smooth.
