Rotary Break-in procedure

I’m new to the whole rotary world (as in, I have never owned one and hope to own my first in 9 months!), and would like to find out what is recommended as a healthy driving style during the break in period. Coming from the other side of things I had always heard to stay under 50mph and not to redline the engine for the first 1000miles. The reasoning behind this had something to do with the valve seals becoming fully seated or something. Is this generally voodoo, or is there a benefit to following the same kind of guidelines with a rotary such as the rx-8?
Thanks

to quote the manual ( its a good read)

First 600 miles: Drive at varying road and engine speeds; avoid full throttle, rapid acceleration or kick-down of transmission. Do not use special "break-in" oils.

Before someone else tells you to do so, check the archives on this site.

Having said that, however, a good place to examine the various options for breaking in the RX-8 is...

http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda4.htm

Click on the link in the lower right of the window, "How to Break In Your New RX-8."

You'll find some differences of opinion on the issue, but if you can control your right foot for a couple of thousand miles, the break-in procedure makes sense.

This is my first rotor and I am wrapped! Should've bought one long ago. Thanks for the info available here and to all you enthusiasts so that newbies like me need not grope in the dark and try to treat the rotaries like pistoned engines. The RX-8 is almost as much fun as a bike!
Thanks all once again.
