Permanant Damage From Driving With Bad Coil???

Well, was on my way to lunch when something happened to my engine. There was a sudden loss of power and my check engine light began blinking. I was close to the dealership (5 miles) so I decided to take it in. I barely made it. There was smoke coming out from under the hood and there was a horrible burning smell. There wasn't any sign of problems before this happened. She has 43,000+ miles on her.

The dealership said one of my coils burned up. They replaced the plugs, all 4 coils and wires. I haven't picked her up yet but they say it's running great now.

I was wondering if any permanent damage could've been done to the rotors or housing? Should I ask them to run a compression test or anything else before I get her back?

Cool Possible....

A good misfire on a running motor would put a lot of unburned gas into the cat, which would glow bright red, with possible internaldamage, and heat damage to surrounding panels.

Yeah, there's not going to be any damage to the engine from lack of spark. If its truly running well I'd bet the cat is fine. If it still lacks power the cat could well be damaged. I'd just get it back and drive it. You'll know if its working properly or not. There isn't any latent damage to the engine.
