Oil light came on this morning in my way to work. Went to the first gas station I could to put some oil in to suffice untill my oil change in 900 miles. All they had was a generic non-detergent 30. It was my only option so I got it. Am I okay just using it once? I read people saying don't use it. But I mean will one bottle be harmful? I use Castrol gtx 5w-20 any other time and for changes. So Will a couple quarts hurt? Thanks guys

Change your oil early like now. Mixing oil types can cause oils to brakedown and turn to sludge. Start checking your oil more often like every othe time you gas up. Oil lights are for dummies on any car the only reason you should ever see it is because you suddenly sprung a leek not because you just didn't bother to check the oil. Although in defense of some there was a recall on the oil sending unit on the early rx8s

always keep a bottle in the truck just in case you might need to add some on a long trip.
