Is this the long tube directing air to the engine bay?? sorry im still learning.

basically yes, the vfad itself is that box looking thing with the actuator attached that is seen with the front bumper removed.

Most will LEAVE the box and tube in place.
Mazda got this intake very right. it balanced both velocity and volume.
