Talking Maintaining High RPMs

I will soon be driving my 8 on the Autobahns of Germany. Life is good. I wonder if maintain speeds in excess of 120mph for long periods of time will cause any problems. RPMs will stay between 6-8k. :D

you'll enjoy watching the fuel gauge move faster than the tach, but otherwise you'll no damage from 6-8k

Cool

Thanks for the link Spin9k! I think that answered my question. As for the gas mileage going down, WHO CARES! I get 18 or 19 mpg average even with the ever recurring itch to mash down on the accelarator. I have been to Germany before, and yes you are right, with the need for speed comes the need for more gas, but when your in your 8 who gives a ****!

I went through a tank in one day. I drive over 700mi a week, not including the weekends and over 200mi some days. I got over 8.5k probably 6 times or so, used 5k as my shift point otherwise and cruised at about 3k. Only about 20 of the miles were done on 4 lane roads, and I did have to stop for quit a bit of stopsigns and lights on the two lane roads so I don't know whether to count this as mainly highway or city. The four lanes roads had some lights as well. I used the same pump and did not top it off so as to make it objective by stop gassing as soon as the pump cuts it the first time. I got slightly over 20mpg when I filled up in the evening, about 300mi and 15 gallons. That is about average for me and the hard driving didn't seem to affect the milage much. I had 21mpg when I gassed in the morning.

You should be fine if you regularly get 19 or so mpg I think.

you'll love it. I did it once and the feeling is amazing.
I travelled about 50km with 5th gear in, the needle showing 7-9k rpm. Average speed was above 180kph.
you won't be needing your stereo:D
