Induction kits

This may sound like a stupid question but why are the aem induction kits above $300 and induction kits for 1.8 engines are below $90.
If i spend less is it only the level of performance that matters or can a semi cheap kit damage my engine? Cheers, Henry.

Kits....

No kit is any good if it sucks the engine bay air, from behind the rad. Most kits just slap a pathetic foam cone filter on the end of the MAF tube and "good to go"!

You will notice the stock setup draws cool air in ahead of the rad, that is the MINIMUM an aftermarket must do. The best setup I've seen is the Racing Beat, with the enormous scoop behind the front grille.

wha wha wha??? just go with the aem....the new mazdaspeed cai's said to have very similar design to the aem cai. i have the aem, its good...if mazda's copying the aem, i'd say aem has done something right.

On one of the posts there was a vid with a SR intake which was a huge can that looked like a exhaust can, are they any good?
And r they better than the AEM intakes? coz the aem intakes looks just like K&n intakes , cheers Henry.
