HJS Catalytic Converter

I think I need one, my 2nd 8's cat is dead (found broken pieces in the muffler, looks fine at the front, however),

since the place i live now has the stupidest sniffer test ever, it will be better if I can meet or exceed Euro 5 spec (which is what RX8 failed at, it barely meets Euro 4)

I was looking around and found HJC cat that meets Euro 5

HJS cat

but ... the diameter seems a bit too big tho, the smallest end seems to be 2.76in, I remember the stock pipe is what, 2.5 in ?

anybody tried this CAT yet? or if anyone tried to weld a HJS cat to it? I remember Team tried it before. tEAM where are you ?

You wouldn't want the 100 cpi race cat for strict emissions testing. They make a 200 cpi version for street use. I doubt anyone can guarantee it will pass due to all the variables.

I know, the one I wanna get is a 200 cpi cat that's rated for Euro 5 Spec, which is already higher than huge RX8 Cat that's rated for Euro 4

HJS Catalytic Converter, High Flow Catalytic Converter, Hi-Flow Catalytic Converter, High-Flow Catalytic Converter, Porsche Catalytic Converter, MB Catalytic Converter, Mercedes Catalytic Converter, BMW Catalytic Converter, Ferrari Catalytic Converte

I don't really trust a used one, government sniffer test is real tight here and I'm not gonna risk it,

not to mention it's hard as @#!@# to find anything used in the city I'm living in now ...

Gonna check with them later today (it's 12 hrs ahead of EST) to see if it is actually OK to have an aftermarket cat, hope they're not as gay as California (which requires a factory cat or CARB certified, no matter how clean/good your aftermarket cat is)

I was just clarifying the point since I have always used the 100 cpi race cats

any good exhaust shop will be able to adapt the pipe size difference, the only cats I saw with near OE size were too small and/or only E4 rated

Why are the CATs for the RX-8 that you can get from parts stores so much cheaper than the OEM? Most stealerships are in the 1200 range...most I've seen online are in the 200-400 range.

I paid $1050 to import the largest HJS race cat; GT1407, back in late 2009. Thats just the cat only. The factory system gives you aa cat pipe assembly. It doesn't flow nearly as much or take the high heat that that HJS can.

They offer a lower cost "Cup" racing cat series now. I think the temp range is a little lower, but probably still suitable if the AFRs are tuned reasonably. They now sell HJS cats in the USA too.

What is it you want to know? It will most definitely work and not melt or spiral out. The only question is how long will it continue to clean emissions and the answer to that is likely years and/or many miles away.

As long as it keeps the CEL off, it will pass most emissions testing facilities in the US.

Don't worry Jason, even a sard or Brain cat could pass an Euro4 emission test done with the car in closed loop.
Just go there with a really hot cat, you'll pass the test.
