Gas Cap Cause Engine Light Reset

Gas Cap Loose and cause Engine Fail Light:
JUST WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT IN MY CASE THE RX8 COMPUTER RESET THE FAIL LIGHT AFTER 3-4 DAYS.
Well I did not tighten my gas cap one day. That same day the engine light fail came on.
I pulled out the manual and said it could be oil, water or gas cap. All levels were good so I re-tighten my gas cap. Didn't no for sure this was the problem.
Two day later the fail light was still on. Called the dealer and they said bring it in and they will hook it up and determine what the failure was. They also stated that the light would not reset by it self. When I got at the dealer they said since it over 12,000 miles that it would cost me $40 if it turns out to be the gas cap. I told them I have free 4 year service (Over state HP) and extended warrantee. The service guy said does not matter. I said forget it I will checkout internet to find out how to reset the stupid light.
Before I could get around to disconnecting the battery or buying the computer connection to my car the LIGHT RESET IT SELF.
