Another Dealer Visit

Stopped by my dealer today to have them look at a laundry list of issues...so this will be a long post...sorry.

1) Headlight Film (They are ordering new lenses.)

2) Contact marks on side sill (They will fix)

3) Brake squeal (They would have done this when I mention months ago, but my tech recommended that I wait as long as possible to get the most out of my old pads. Doing it on Monday.)

4) Rust on the rotors (Will be sanded and painted)

These next to are BIG.

5) Front bumber is rock chipped to death. I have Sunlight Silver, so ever nick shows up badly. The dealer also said it looks bad, especially for less tham a year. I offered to have a clear bra installed if they repainted, or replaced the front bumper....it looks like they are going to do it.

6) Each one of my rims have very fine scrathes. On the lip, and the spokes. They cannot explain why, and I didnt take steel wool to them. I know they are painted and clearcoated, so I usually clean with Micofiber. They said that it usually comes from car washes, but could not explain why the scratches come all the way to the lugs....and I only handwash(Zymol) or use a DIY carwash. They are also in a perfect criss cross pattern in some places. They are checking to see if they can replace them. It also turns out that they may have a set of Shinka rims that they swapped for a customer because he didn't like them on the Shinka...to make the sale, they ordered a set of standard 18's. They may offer them to me...not sure if I like the look. If they aren't willing to replace them, I am having them powdercoated. Powdercoating is so much stronger than paint because it's actually baked on.

7) There are a several little things with the interior. The console compartment button is "sprung", there is a bump or rattle in my sunroof(not the rearview mirror, but it squeaks too), my steering wheel makes a clicking noise on occasion, my instrument cluster rattles, rear speakers rattle, in-dash CD changer skips the first 5 seconds of each song, and finally my car will, on occassion, lock the doors with the engine running if I open and close the trunk. This locked me out once already...I keep a spare key in my wallet for unlocking the door now.

I will keep you guys posted on how things turn out.

Well....what a pain.

I had an appointment to drop my car off on Monday of last week. They had my car until Thursday, and were not very forthcoming with information on the status. When they did not call me back on Thursday, I just went up there. Aside from the fact that I was already bummed having been saddled with a Dogde Neon as a loaner, I get there and they haven't done anything. I told them that I needed my car for the holiday weekend, and so they replaced the oil dipstick and reflashed it to "P" while I waited. Hard to belive that after 4 days, they hadn't done anything. I setup another appointment for Wed of this week when all of the parts they ordered should come in. (Thursday, they hadnt even ordered the new headlights.) Wed I drop the car off at 7:30, took until 8:15 to get everything written up and to make sure that they had all of the parts. The tech told me that it would be done same day....(Right). By 8:30 I was getting my loaner car, hopeing for something better than a Neon....no such luck. They gave me a Nissan Sentra, and it was disgusting inside. Every seat was stained. There was dust and dirt soaked by aromor-all all over. Cigarette ash on the dash, and window sills.....just nasty. I had to get to a 9am meeting, so I didnt have time to argue and get another car. I called the dealer at 2pm, and expressed my dissatisfaction with the loaner and asked how the work was going on my car...they said that the tech had not arrived yet. It's 2pm and they havent even touch it. He said he would call me back and let me know what was going on later. No call, so I call at 3:45. He says the tech was test driving it and it should be ready. Great, I'm on the way. I get there at 4:15 and my car is on the lift, the front bumper is off, front wheels are off, and they are trying to remove my old headlights! WTF? So much for being ready. They did trade my loaner for a 2005 Chevy Colorado....which had less than 1/4 of tank of gas. (What else could go wrong?) They said theyw ould be done with the mechanical repairs, and that it would go to the body shop for the contact marks on the side sill Thursday. Thursday, they tell me its ready and I go to pick up.....bad news.

1) They didn't aim the headlights, I couldnt see a thing that night.
2) They did not fix the rattle in the dash, sunroof, or rearview mirror. (Sunroof is worse.)
3) They did not fix the contact marks on the side sill...so why did they keep the car Thursday?
4) What did they do right? The P flash, and the dipstick.

I'm changing dealers.

Sometimes I think it would benefit this country if citizens could carry firearms. That way, if the dealer screws with you, you could just kill them all.

Maybe I missed - did they infact fix your front bumper? My car is chipped to hell already, too...and if your dealer fixed it, I could use that as leverage for my dealer.

Yes, Sesi in Ypsi.

They did not repair my front end...and I questioned the reasoning for MAO changing the two coat to a three coat paint process.
