Exhaust problem?
I just installed the RB exhaust.....and it went smoothly 1 1/2 hour install the instructions followed to the letter. After the install a small amount of smoke (looks vaporous like steam)was visible..i attributed this to the a/f ratio and the new exhaust not being broken in. after i drove her home you could still see the smoke when i checked her out. will this go away (the temp out side is 80 deg. by the way). I am about to move back to virginia and i can't have any visible smoke out of the car or she will fail emissions inspection. Any one else have this problem? there is no exhaust leak coming out of the RB cat-back too by the way. So she is one right just not sure why there is a lill smoke. Oh and you can smell fuel when you get down to it. And befor ei left there was (what looked like) a lill amount of water visible on the inside lip of the exhaust...i assume this is where the steam type smoke came from...but how'd it get there? never had that happen befor. Oh well I would greatly appritiate any insite on this guys. Thanks in advance.

it's normal, your exhaust has stuff coating it, and it needs to burn off. When I first had my borla installed, I drove off, and after about 200 feet, there was a shitload of white smoke coming out of the car. I thought it was on fire! But it soon stopped. There should be some smoke and smell up to around 2 weeks after, but then it's gone.

Yes this is normal, it is the excess oil that they coated the exhaust with during manufacture & shipping, it goes away after about a 100 mi. The fuel smell is because our cars run very rich. You will notice (even on your stock exhaust tips) the soot. That is the cat burning the excess fuel off. That is why an ECU re-chip (when they finally figure it out) will give us big gains as they will lean this out.
