Drivers Door wont Open

Hi all, wondering who can point me to a solution. My drivers door handle (both inside and outside) don't work to open the door. The door itself is locked and I'm having to crawl in and out of the passenger side. ALso, the lock button inside doesn't look like it's releasing all the way and I can force it to unlock. I don't have a remote and the key on the drivers side IS unlocking the passenger side.

Wondering: A, how do I open the car door and b: what do I need to fix. I've checked the a thread thats similar to this and it's not clear how to undo the door panel when the door is locked closed.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks. I've searched through things and near as I can tell you take the door panel off and try jiggling or moving things on the actuator or the assembly and hope it unlocks. I was hoping to find something more specific.

That's about it, it's a bitch. I recommend buying a new assembly before you tackle this. Everything about it is discussed at length in one or two threads on the subject.

Car I bougt had same problem, Its actually the whole lock actuator thingy,, I took front passenger seat off to make it easy and not damage door panel then Door assembly thing pulled part up and it open, I just ordered part from a member here, if you pulled that part up it will open door and will stay open as long as you dont lock car, but my kids locked it again so i just left door panel off untill i get lock actutator, good luck.
And I hate that search botton I been a member for 4 years at rx7 club and same shoo88t they always say look but they dont help,, I notice members here are more in the edge than the rx7 members lol,

Thanks guys, took it to the dealer... I like them, they seem real honest. Anyway, took THEM longer than they thought to get the door open and install. But, she's right as rain now!

if we say it's a bitch then you know the dealer is going to have a real tough time with it, as anyone would who doesn't know these cars inside and out.

there is no simple easy way of doing it.

I would much rather pull and replace an engine than do this again, that is why I replaced the whole assembly rather than just replace the spring.

I cut my broken spring, heated it up with a torch curled it to for the original shape then cooled it in water to effectively temper it.

Been working for almost a year now.
