I am trying to use haltech for traction control and it's asking sensor voltage at 500, 1k, 2k, 3k, 4k, 5k, and 7k wheel revolution. I don't have any oscilloscope to find out.. does anyone have this data handy for our wheel speed sensors? Thanks in advance.

I can tell you that the reluctor ring for the ABS system has 44 teeth.

thanks for the response. The reluctor sensor generates higher voltage amplitude in sine waves as wheel speed goes up.. haltech needs to know the amplitude voltage to pick up the speed sensor signal properly..

I may have to buy an oscilloscope just so I can measure it.

Yea, sorry... I hadn't gotten that far yet. I'm putting in a custom steering rack and using a MK3 MR2 electric pump. I'll need to do something pretty similar to get the speed assist working properly.

I have a scope...but the car is in winter storage for at least a couple of more weeks. If I remember correctly the FSM has diagrams of the expected scope outputs for different sensors. I don't remember if they are well labelled though. I can have a look later when I get home to see if it would give you any useful information

oh man that would be awesome. It would help out with anyone looking to go with aftermarket TCS solution since most detect the wheel speed with ABS sensor. if there's FSM PDF available, I would love a copy, and will look into it as well. Thanks!

Not sure if this will help...but it should be linear and you have this and zero??

yea I just found it too... it looks promising. has all the variables I need (voltage and ms which is inverse frequency). maybe I'll just wait until your grounds thaw

haltech wants multiple points (voltage and frequency of sine wave) at multiple wheel rpm's, so unless someone can make sense of that equation, oscilloscope is the way to go.

lol. I thought about it too hard. It must just mean the axis of that sine wave. well in that case, I think oscilloscope is necessary for this job..

RPM is the wheel RPM. Maybe we can figure that out with frequency of the wave knowing we have 44 teeth? The numbers below the RPM line are the voltage amplitude.

I did simple math..

it's 0.0773106060 x rpm = mph on the dash

so for rpm=500, it's 38.7 MPH
for 1000 wheel rpm = 77.3 mph
for 2000 wheel rpm = 154 mph
for 3000 wheel rpm = 231 mph lol

this is little ridiculous.. so I asked haltech whether they really expect us to rev the car upto 231mph, and they said if we just fill in the 500, 1000, and 2000, the computer can extrapolate. besides, I don't think I would need much traction control after 154 mph

Forgot about this thread. Attached chart works after 25mph. Can't get it to detect lower speed. If anyone can help out with oscilloscope for 5, 20, and 35mph voltage amplitude, that would be really helpful, but if not, this chart works after 25mph on rx8 which isn't too bad. It lets you do little burn out and by the time it hits 3-4k in first gear, you have traction control kicking in so works great for turbo rx8's.
