Lightbulb Cracked DASH Board - Passenger Side.

Thought this was in need of it's own thread...in Technical.

Mazda Japan have recently made available as a replacement Part the passenger Dash Cover which was ONLY previously available with Air Bag Module included and over $1000 USD.

The Dash Crush Pad without Air Bag Module is now just over $300 USD, and is available for both Left and Right Hand Drive RX-8's..

When it does crack an ugly wide "H" pattern emerges where passenger Air Bag would deploy from.

Here are the Part Numbers for new Crush Pad ONLY.

FEY1-57-K5X Air Bag Door LEFT HAND DRIVE

F1Y1-57-K5X Air Bag Door RIGHT HAND DRIVE

I haven't had this problem but I know other members like that of 9krpmrx8 will be interested in this. It seems like alot of forum members from warmer climates have had issues with their dashes cracking. That is some good news. Thanks Ash!

Thanks for the heads up. My 04 in FL has a 3" Horizontal crack which I assume will only get worse over time. Maybe it's from my British wife getting in the wrong side of the car to drive and beating her fist against it? (Well the getting in the wrong side part is true even after 11+ years)

Thanks Ash....................started to develop about a 7 inch vertical crack.

Found it for about $310.00 with free shipping.
www.onlinemazdaparts.com

Other places were as high as $438.00 with shipping!

Dave

Anyone know how easy or hard this is gonna be?
Looking at the picture it doesn't seem to be too bad.
Anybody ever replace it yet?

Yeah, seems like I always search around thinking I'll do better, but he gets me back everytime and has never failed to beat the price and gets it here rather quickly.

Dave

Oh.............I hadn't search for a DIY yet, so thanks for that as well

Just reviving an old thread as mine started to crack like over the past few months. Mine is a 2004 and I think it has taken a while as it is garaged and I apply protection on it at least 3 times a year.

I am not too bothered by the crack yet, but the question I have is is there any safety issue with the crack or is it just cosmetic? I am assuming there is no safety hazard, but just thought I check.

The crack itself is not a safety issue. It's just ugly as sin...

I am incredibly bothered by mine...

Online Mazda Parts

Bringing this back from the dead. What is the exact part to look for on the site. I know it has to be under a certain area on there. Mine has been cracked for over a year now and i just cant take it any longer. Thank you in advance for any help.

bummer, my search on Online Mazda Parts didn't turn up anything. other airbag parts, and other dash components, but not the sought after "crush pad" part of the dash, or whatever it's called.

there are a couple on ebay, but i'm hesitant to buy one there if it's as old or older than mine (2008), only to have it crack again. stupid texas heat.

Mine just started cracking as well. I saw the ones on Ebay without the airbag. Anyone know if it's easy to swap the airbag?
