Couple Problems..... Advice

Had the car sin July almost 3000 miles on it, just had an oil change 3 weeks ago. I've noticed this problem before but it seems to have gotten worse latley. Whenever I start it up I start to drive and then all of the sudden it almost stalls out and the battery or charge light starts to flash, it never stalls completley atleast not yet, but it sure feels like it wants to. I hit the gas hard when it happens and it seems to get its power back. It only really happens when i first start to drive away and it will do it like only once then its ok. One more note is that it usually happens when im just kinda idling when i first drive it after start up. Im taking it in to get looked at, but am wonder if anyone has any idea. I was told it may be the idle setting but its set to about 800 rpms and idles about 5mph. by the way its an automatic

Another thing is this rattle in the front dash, i think i read that problem on here before anyone resolve it.

One more thing when when i have the fan on zero but the button pressed on outise air(yellow light) hot air still comes from the vents. I have to switch it to recirculate(orange) for no air to come out even tho i have the fan speed set to zero both ways. Anyone have any experience with that.

Even with these little probs still love the car

Unless you have it on recirculate air will come in. Mainly when you are moving. Thats why its called outside air...

I beleive mazda didnt put much thought into the routing the vetilation ducts. The reason I say this is because I have noticed when it is cold outside and I have the temperature gauge set to cold and set to outside air (not recirculate) i feel warm air come through my vents. I think they routed the ducts too close to the engine which causes this warm air. Does anyone else notice this? Also my front console that holds beverages will get hot as hell!!

The air will flow in nearly any car when you have it set to outside air feature. Tilt open your sunroof, with the fan set to zero, and you will notice even more air pushing through. Isn't physics fun? Hint: be sure to change it to re-circ if you drive by any sewage treatment facilities, garbage dumps, or other smelly places or you'll get an unpleasant suprise.

Oh, and I have not had the warm air problem with mine. Even if it's turned all the way to cold with the fan at zero, the temp of the air is simply whatever the outside air temperature is. (In my experiences, and what I would expect in most cases) But it would make sense that the air flows in a little warmer. It's a hot running engine as it is, anyway.

Finally, the cupholder console has been dubbed by MANY people on the forum as "the oven" and it most certainly lives up to it's name. I read on another thread yesterday about someone who was going to try to place some sort of a heat reflective cloth around part of the transmission or exhaust underneath the console to hopefully alleviate this a little. I'm not sure of any safety reprecussions to that, but I personally plan on doing it as soon as I get some free time.....

here's the thread I am talking about....

I, too, have had my AT '8 since August, got about 4000 miles, and just recently started noticing the same situation, where it feels like it's almost going to stall. Like you, it only happens shortly after I start up, and then within a 1/2 mile, it's fine. I thought that perhaps it had something to do with finally getting my M flash done (about 2 weeks ago); in fact, there's a new thread on that in this same forum, about running rich with the M Flash.

I haven't reached the point of calling my dealer, but may do so in the next couple weeks. Not sure if I need to:
1) have them 'redo' the M flash (I don't know how to tell if it was done properly),
or,
2) have them revert to the original flash (with a build date of Feb 2004, I believe that would be L flash).

Yes, I have it do the warm air thing too. In fact, one vent of mine outputs warmer air than the rest unless I set the temperature to the lowest or next to lowest. I've noticed this from day one actually, but it doesn't bother me that much since if I just turn it colder all vents turn cold. The A/C though really isn't all that great in mine.

Yah, the A/C cycles between cool air and cold air in mine. My local dealship has installed an A/C amplifier in mine to remedy the problem, but the problem is still there. Also, I do get the warm air in the vents when I have it set for outside air. That's why I leave it on recirculation and crack open the windows in the summer. This is my first winter with my baby, so we'll see how the heat runs when you want it to.

There Is No Reverting To A Previous Flash. It's Not Possible For Them To Do.
