Two months ago I changed the oil and the oil filter on my 2004 231 HP RX-8. Still, every time I measure the oil level I have this strange thing on my dipstick (see photo). Reading further in this forum, I fear the worst, and I think a gasket or something doesn't do its job any more, and some coolant liquid goes straight into the oil bay. Checking the coolant liquid level I didn't notice a significant decrease. I didn't notice a decrease at all. I am not a technical guru, but my common sense says that I shouldn't use the car until a qualified person sees it. Unfortunately, next week I have to go on vacation, meaning I have to drive 800 miles. What is your suggestion and what risks do you think this involves ? Do you have any ideea what are the costs to repair this matter ?

This is exactly what happened to me. Mazda pressurized my coolant system and removed one of the spark plugs and coolant started dripping out of the spark plug hole.

Since when does condensation on the dipstick call for a new engine?

It's just me being stupid and overreacting. I pay almost half of my salary on the lease, and there are times when I can't afford to fill her up ! Imagine how I felt when I took into account the possibility of spending 5000 on a new engine !

You have the newer dipstick design - should have seen how the '04 looked originally... Impossible to even read the oil level ! If it was coolant, the level in the coolant tank would go down. It is water from the engine that condenses on the cold metal probe.
It's all good on yours - when weather will warm up, that condensation will be gone. There is a TSB replacing the air intake to limit the condensation, but it is a bit extreme for such a small annoyance. Just wipe the dipstick clean and measure the oil again.
Maybe next time I visit Bucharest I take a look at your car if you still have problems :o) I do stuff on my car quite often, so I build some experience (with issues, at least). Sorry about the lease - combined with the ultra high cost of gas, it is not a good thing...

Thanx a lot man, keep in touch. Hope I'll straighten her fender pretty soon.
