Thought I would share the results of my recent compression check and some history on my vehicle for informational purposes. First the history.
I have a 2004 RX8 MT with 122K miles on the original engine. Hot start issues began around 119K miles. I change oil regularly and started premixing at 80K miles. Red line a day the works.
It is a wonder the car starts at all with such a low reading on Rotor 1. I still drive the car daily to and from work. Now I fill up with the engine running.
I have quotes from dealers and a local rotary specialist. About $4500 is the cost for rebuilt engine.
Right now I saving my pennies, because the rebuild will likely include a new clutch, plate, flywheel, and some other goodies to extend engine life.
