Clutch Pedal Issues

For some time I've been hearing a squeak, it would go away, then I would hear a click after the clutch pedal was pressed in the whole way. I was driving yesterday and I heard a loud pop. Now my clutch pedal has a lot of free-play and I need to press the clutch pedal in almost fully to shift. The bracket isn't broken and the pedal comes up fully. I'm assuming its the clutch pedal assembly, but I'm not sure. I would definitely get a creaky sound when I was pressing it in for a while. I had the pedal assembly replaced about 120k miles ago. Is there a failure point on these other than the bracket?

The bracket is the main one, and your description sure sounds like a snapped assembly.

With the car parked, open the driver's door, sit on the frount with your legs under the door and the door right in front of your face, then lean in and inspect the assembly by hand. Move the pedal in and out, check for any lateral shifting of the pedal to the left or right at any point in the range, look for flexing and/or broken weld points at the base.

If everything seems perfectly find, then pull the starter and look through the hole it mounts to, checking for shredded clutch material that might indicate a burst disc.

Sounds like the pedal is failing, I just replaced mine about a month or 2 ago.

For mine when the pedal was fully pressed it could move side to side a lot. Got a BHR welded one, couldn't be happier.

Pull the pedal off the car and inspect it. I couldn't see or feel anything with it installed on to the car. It's not to bad to remove and replace either.

it could be a broken fork pivot ball inside the bellhousing, but you should cross your fingers that it is just another broken pedal assembly..

I replaced the clutch the entire clutch assembly along with my engine at 140k. When I get down and look at it, I depress the clutch with my hand, the free-play is all in the cylinder and the bracket is sturdy. There's no give on the pedal bracket at all. I'm unfamiliar with the workings of the pedal, but could it be the spring or the cylinder? In any case, I ordered a new assembly yesterday, should be here tomorrow.

Upon further inspection there is flexing and a crack in the bracket. That's a relief. Thanks for the responses.
