cel oil metering pump rear o2sensor

so i have had an intermintent cel. while in naples fl dropped by the mazda dealer. dropped car off and sat and read max pc. im a dork its ok.

eric the tech comes out and say that the cel is related to a bad rear o2 sensor and the oil metering pump. he ordered the rear o2 sensor, but said mazda is working on the fix for the oil metering pump.

anyone else had these issues?????

build date of oct 03, 23kmiles. was an m flash. which was updated to the n flash without saying a word. i will coment on that in the dealership section.

my thoughts are im not going to let them replace the rear o2 sensor untill they fix the oil metering pump, but i am the odd one that only uses 1qt of oil ever 3kmiles. and get over 20 mpg average. mostly highway.

One qt of oil in 3K miles and 20 mpg are not odd. Rather, it seems to be the norm for most of those, including myself, reporting on oil consumption and gas mileage on the forum. Sure, there are posts reporting different numbers, some pretty extreme, but based on reading thousands of posts and some of the polls on the forum, I have concluded that they are the exception, not the norm.

More details, please. What were the trouble codes? Under what driving conditions does this fault occur?
It is quite possible a MOP fault caused an out of spec reading downstream, and the O2 sensor is OK.
I doubt very much oil consumption and the MIL indication are related.

i have to admit that i didnt ask for the codes. did talk to the tech for a while. mazda has a case # for it. he called mazda about it and they are working on a fix for the oil metering pump.

i think that whatever is wrong with that is messing up the o2 sensor.

the cel comes on. anytime had it come on under full throttle and also while cruising.

has been going on for about a month.

morande mazda in naples fl was great.

eric, if you happen to read this what were the codes?????

Currenly at the dealer for DTC - 1686 - Metering Oil Pump.
All diagnostics to the pump through the WDS came up ok.
In addition the throttle is broken.
Car idles and moves - but won't go past 3K rpm.
I drove in with a working car with just a nagging yellow CEL to determing what the DTC was.
2+ days and still no word.
Dealer is replacing the pump.
Didn't say how they broke my throttle though.
