Catch me up on RX8 progress.
Hey everyone been without an RX8 for probably 7 years now. I drop by every now and then to see what has been going on and what not as ill probably own another 8 someday sooner or later.
As per the title what's new? I Am attempting to read up myself, but since it looks like nothing is ever archived getting up to speed is a &@") to say the least. So far what I've found is many post starting in 2004-2008 that someone recently bumped or commented on. Tbh a lot of the latest post fall into that category.
Did all real progress stop in those times? How has reliability been since the internet scare of blown engines. Anyone find any hidden power? swaps more common these days? Ect.
Thanks! Back to reading!

I took a long break from this forum as well but I've been reading it again daily for weeks now like I used to years ago. My general opinion is that discussions are more focused and technical than they used to be. There aren't as many fluff topics about cosmetics and what you can get away with without voiding your warranty.
As far as technical improvements regarding the 8? I don't think anything has really changed... perhaps people have come to understand what is realistic for a 13b-msp engine instead of there being a cloud of speculation about if it's better or worse than a 13b.
I'd encourage you to just stay current on discussions here if you are considering another RX-8 and you'll get a feel for the state of the car pretty quickly.

Nothing has really changed except for in the area of flash tuning, and still nothing too crazy there in terms of advancements. The only other thing that has changed is that you can buy a clean used RX-8 for $10.00 now.
And the RX-8 has a 13B-MSP engine Shnifty.

All over. A high mileage 04' 4 port auto is worth $3500.00 tops in perfect condition. Unless you find a sucker of course, then the sky is the limit. **** I would be lucky to get 10k for my RX-8 and that would barely cover the engine rebuild and turbo kit. I have seen others boosted and immaculate 8's with 20k in mods go for less
What people ask and what people pay are two different things. My buddy has a clean 06' Shinka with a freshly rebuilt engine in it for sale that has been on the market forever. he was asking $7500.
