I am getting mixed reports on 3mm seals. Some builders are telling me that a good race apex seal that will bend and not shatter is better and corner seals will match.

2mm yes, 3mm no.
Full depth 3mm doesn't leave enough material for support, on some castings it even machines through due to thickness variation. There is a shallow depth 3mm seal being offered, but that loses the depth advantage. 3mm seals also have their own set of issues. Choosing the right 2mm seal is the correct thing to do.

So what is the best 2mm option for apex and corner seal on a boosted renesis. There are a few on the market.
Rotary aviation seals are supposedly quite good.

I've been using ALS 2mm rx7 apex seals on my daily drive for six months at 11psi. Engine feels like new. Having said that I haven't observed any major detonations to date.

how is your compression jimmy? Brett said some people are having lower then normal compression and there is a "trick" to raise it?
mine feels fine with the goopy rx7 seals, but I haven't done a compression check.

Have to admit I've been a bit slack and haven't had a comp test done since the rebuild when they went in. I'm pretty familiar with low compression symptoms and can only report that I've had no hot or cold start issues whatsoever with these seals. I'll be getting a new exhaust put in next week so I'll get a comp test done at the time and post back here if I remember.

sometimes my cold start takes a touch longer, hot start is fine. I have been having dead battery problems before and after the rebuild, I think my alternator is only doing 11v or so. the car is on a trickle charge right now.

It may be the difference between 1-pc vs. 2-pc seals. Otherwise it shouldn't make any difference, but there are differences in support components such as which seal springs etc. you may use.
No such thing as ALS seals any more. They were originally made by E&J but sold through ALS. Now they are sold directly by E&J.
Mixed results on on RA Super Seals. Some people swear by them, some people hate them with extreme passion. Very hard material. Seems to be installer dependent on whether they take out the housing surfaces or not.

When I had my motor built by Mazmart I had the rotors machined to fit the larger RX-7 seals, that's what was recommended to me after numerous conversations about which way was best to go. The car is down right now because I'm going FI, but for the time being that I drove it around N/A cold starts and hot starts bith were night and day difference to how they were before.
