Bridgeport RX8

Hi
All have been waiting for a bridgeport RX8,

Mine was just done and drivin today, still being run in,

i will collect in tomorrow.

I will let all know more in few days on what it feels like,

one thing so far no CELs,

we made a bridge at the primary and secondarys, we made the primarys a bit bigger and made the exhaust ports open a bit earlier and cleaned all up a bit

Cat was removed (long ago already) and box at back changed to 2 small units

It sounds excellent and i will as soon as it is running well, run in, post some clips

So far all fine

brap brap brap

Since a stock port Renesis can do that when tuned very well, I'd say that's a decent guess.

Pics and clips to follow

Hi All

Yes i will send some video clips, i have one i made but it is 8meg,

wil make some more and post,

at the moment i am still running in, only did approx 100miles so far and not going over 4000rpm, but i can feel there is power,

i battle a small bit with the idling as the std ecu wants to let it idle at approx 750 -800rpm, but it even goes down to 700 and then wants to die, for now until run in (as idling etc might change when a bit more loose, they made a bracket at the pedal, adjustable with screw and locknut, it works fine, now idles like a real bridgy at 1200-1300 rpm.

I am not that often on the site due to not at office a lot, but will try to go on everyday.

On port pictures, i wanted to take once but they werent finished, when i wanted to take they were closed already, but i did see enough, the ports were al made as i think what RG said about the intake opening earlier and primary a bit bigger, cleaning up and rounding to help side seal issue, the bridges was made at primary and secondary (not the high rpm ports, although they did do it there, it was decided to leave due to not so easy with the tube on inside.) the bridge is approx 5mm wide (the port of it) and running the length of the port itself.

I hope to send clips in day or two,

what is the best, to put on Youtube?

And yes i will dyno later, much later, this was supposed to be a rebuild as 2 of my side seals broke as well as the corner seal inbetween, at 208 000km (130 000miles) thus not bad,

due to it being open we went for it as i experiment, so far the std ecu manages

Will keep up to date

tuning

We didnt change anything on tuning yet as first want to run it in,

it wasnt that big extra porting and we worked out that std injectors would be sufficient anyway, we will see how it goes in weeks time after run in,

we will check all to be sure it is not too lean, but a head technician at mazda on RX8s (in South Africa) said the ecu will see if it needs more fuel to std curve, we might not get best power now, but still more than std, with aftermarket ecu, will be big change, at least it wont run too lean.

i must say the throttle respons is better and feels better than std already, even when running to only 4000rpm for now,

will push to 5000rpm in day

just too scared for damages

It's scary but someone has to do it! When I said you can't bridge a Renesis, I was referring to the exhaust ports. The intake ports do make me nervous though as that would have to be a pretty thin bridge or a very small eyebrow port.

Your right,

the bridge is very thin, but luckily enough flesh downwards into port (or depth) and not so long,

i was also very scared at the part where the corner seal runs on, but they tested all before assembling to make sure nothing can hook or fall out,

i would have made the bridge 1mm wider and port 1mm narrower for safety.

To be honest our real test is when we run it at full throttle high revs in week or so, to be sure there is not fuel starvation,

but idea for that already,

we were thinking of putting in HP pump in front with regulator, at just a bit higher than standard or firstly try to bypass regulator in pump housing and then putting new regulator in front, and lifting it just a bit, the std pump can do a bit more, if the pump cant keep up, then we will have to go for option 1,

bad thing is, cash flow is a bit tight, so going to take it very slow

In power i think it might be more than 260, a bit maybe 270

as the following is now already done,

Cat removed, presilencer still in but pipe in cats place (cat cut out from standard and pipe distance piece inserted), at back we made the same as with mazdaspeed type 2 smaller silencers,

Then the bridgeporting, and a BMC F1 air filter,

and of coarse i will put my Royal Purple fluids in again after run in,

we are changing oil after week.

Is it worth the effort. There really isn't much room for any additional porting on that side of intake port. It would very small indeed. That's why I asked for pictures.

Thanks

Can be

a year or so back i asked around to use renesis rotors in normal Fd / series 5 motor to have higher compression,

at end stayed with the renesis, as i needed housings as well, other management etc,
would have been costly

I wanted and will make another clip showing the rensesis motor and then back to hear sound

I got a small water leak somewhere as i lost a bit of water today, 4 hours of driving and bad traffic due to accidents, idling a lot.

will check again tomorrow to see if not waterpump

starting is already going much easier

will post again
