Post Best Turbos

What are the best turbos for the rx8. It's high compression and stuff will need to be considered before going turbo... What are the limits? Please share some tested systems.

I'm looking for dyno results here too. Let me know where to begin, and we'll get the thread started off nice.

ALL HP/Torque applicable..

Search NOOB!

Try Googling RX-8 turbo and see what comes up.

In regards to the start of this thread.. I am in the market for a turbo that would push around 26psi .. What would the best porting option be?

So in other words.. neither of you two had options and the rx8 has been out for 10 years... Surely there are many different examples of attempted uses of numerous turbos.

26psi? What do you think this is, an Evo?
say goodbye to your apex seals on any decent sized turbo.

forget PSI, you should be concerned with finding a properly sized tubo and go from there.
I'd suggest starting with the Greddy turbo system, then reading the 'fixes' thread on it, and eventually looking at other (bigger) turbo.

you're sorta right, but sort of a waste of a moderator.

if you can't reach 26psi. what is the max hp without going crazy?

I've resisted doing anything "moderatory-like", but I can if you really want me to...

I'm tempted already, so it won't be hard to convince me. Feel free to give it a go.

seems like the car is limited to a very weak output using the stock engine.. like a waste of a car.

l3eltinck,

You didn't get a helpful answer because you obviously did not want to read at all.

You have already found your way here.

So you should START here..

I understand that you will have a lot of questions but, please read through at least a few threads to get your feet wet. This is not an easy or cheap task.

at this point i just want to know if the engine can handle any actual power. 300-400hp isn't going to cut it against cars on the road these days.

is at least 23psi something the stock engine is capable of handling?

It can't even handle 200whp safely. Have you heard about all the blown RX-8 engines?

If you want 23 psi, you will have to do some milling to the rotor so that will accept a 3mm apex seal. Even then, under that kind of pressure, kiss your seals good bye anyway. Hope your pockets are deep. Have a couple motors standing by ready to be dropped in.

Or you could swap in a REW. Research is the key. Do it and then post an intelligent response.
