Do you need a throttle body? I have an extra one that I thought was faulty so I got a new one. But I have no use for it, it has 140k on it.

the OE mounts are forged. Once you weld on them all strength properties are gone

No, I need an aluminum plate for the TB to mount to on a custom upper intake mod I'm working on.

IIRC the FRS uses the same style Denso TB, maybe use some nut inserts or thread one of these?

Team, I think it's the same as the Mazdaspeed 3/6 stuff. your build is N/A isn't it? I was thinking maybe you could order a Matt Damon or JMF throttlebody plate that comes with meth nozzle bungs. JMF Throttle Body Spacer w/ Meth Bungs Mazdaspeed 3 2007-2013 / Mazdaspeed 6 2006-2007 / Ford Focus ST 2013+

That's if you're going turbo. It's been a while, but I recall your build being N/A. Hell, you could probably still order one and plug the bungs. Actually, if they are the same (I can't check because my 8 and the 6 are in 2 completely different areas ATM) I have a JMF throttlebody plate I'll send you for half off if you decide you need it.

Well the only benefit to leaving this thread open is for the updated laughs! Turdblown was/is such a joke. I feel sorry for everyone he screwed over. Is he still in business?

Thinking about having a custom one made myself. I have the two inter-mating uim/lim and uim/auxillary flanges that I bought from Richard Paul and an elbow that duplicates the 70mm ID and bend radius of the front section. All it needs is the transition from the 70mm ID tube into the primary/secondary oval ports (the hard, hand-formed fabrication part) and the TB mounting flange, then fitted together, blend radiused as needed, and welded up. I'd modify the 110* turn from the TB into the intake and just have it 90* with the TB opening facing straight towards the front/inlet air opening in the front shroud so that fresh intake tube assy can be perfectly straight. That may affect some of the original resonance design, but I'd just rather have it straight and live with it that way.

You should see how many people are interested. Maybe if we get ten to buy in, it would be more affordable. The first one is the most expensive, the nine clones of that should be easy.

My first intention is to try to heat the OE manifold sufficiently to "unbend" the inlet angle to 90*. I already chopped one off and reworked it to where I can attach an aluminum tube and TB flange to it with a silicone hose and clamps, but it has a bit of a grafted Frankenstein look to it that I don't care for.

The guy I want to send it to does professional custom welding and aluminum manifold fabrication work that looks more like art than engine parts. Since I have some of the main components it might be feasible for me to follow through on it using him, otherwise I doubt anyone here would pay anything near what he charges in general.

Fo shizzle! That's the photo I took of the mount I received with my "kit". Still can't believe he tried to pass that off as acceptable...

Well for now I'm just going to graft a matching aluminum elbow/TB flange to an OE UIM that I first cut the front half off of it and then trimmed off the outer square casing back to the tubular inner section. The tricky part is grafting the two long radius tubes together because the usual silicone and rubber hose elbows are really short radius. Also mine is for racing only and it eliminates all of the non-essential OE emissions stuff along with not using the under-section oil fill/crankcase vent and vacuum tank. I intended to remote mount the vacuum tank/solenoids. So even if I had one made it wouldn't appeal to most of you street guys.

It turns out the the Ford Mustang 4.6L 2V has the same TB flange as the RX8 and there are weld-on aftermarket flanges available.
