Bit harsh. I installed my supercharger kit at 98 000km and it died at 149 000km at the drag strip. It lasted 5 years and had a lot of fun driving a boosted 8. My boost was at 8psi producing 268HP.

Now in the final stages of getting the car back on the road and hoping for many more km of boosted fun. Also looking to increase the boost to 10psi this time.

Yeah I love the car and it's fun but the return on investment is very low. There are way more rewarding platforms out there to start on.

Damnnnnnn. You should put up a video on YouTube. I don't think a lotta people have seen RX8s hit 60 in under 5 seconds. I mean road cars. Not the race built ones. That's pretty cool

There are plenty of faster RX-8's than mine. Subscribe to Brettus youtube page.

I'd love to see one of these on an 8, but I'm with you on the hp per $ value of moding the Bimmer. Have you got a build thread for it? Keen to see what you've done.

Best part about modding the Bimmer is the cost of the engine rebuilds

So... you have a 400+ page thread. How about a quick summary of your current setup?

Actually a brand new short block from BMW runs about what a typical Renny rebuild runs.

The first page is a pretty accurate summary. I have not changed much other than the fact that I am running an E85 mix now. The only changes I plan on making are suspension and wheel related.

Did you get a BMW? Have you got a link to a build thread?

Edit: Haha, just saw that I asked that question a few posts up.

Yes sir, N55 (twin scroll Borg Warner) powered E90 335i. "Full bolt ons", MHD tuned, Bilstein coilovers, etc. Pure Stage 2 Turbo upgrade and Mfactory LSD are next now that the supporting mods are done.

Nice stance. Your thoughts on 335i vs. Audi S4? I'm looking at something a bit bigger than the 8 to take the family on road trips, and it has to be tunable of course.

Hmm, I love the S4, buddy (shadycrew31 here) had a 2010 S4 and it was sweet, but he had a lot of problem with it so he now has a 2015 335i M Sport (same engine as mine but with an electronic waste gate so a tad bit more power potential at the limit). Powerwise the 335i and the B8 S4 both have potential. Looks are subjective.

Now if you are looking new, the new turbo Audi's and Infiniti's are very potent. But so is the new BMW 340i, 440i, and M240i.

The new owner is local and owns a few RX-8's (one Pettit SC SARX car as well) so it is being well cared for so that helped as much as a love/hate relationship I had with it. But I don't miss it, just the fun times wrenching with the fellas and such.

Still having fun with Hoss-05 installing turbos and such though
