I'm still not a fan of the IC placement.... do you plan on venting your hood at all to accommodate it? I just feel like it is susceptible to heat soak where it is now with minimal air flow through it...
Nice build though, can't wait to see it tuned

The IC actually uses the stock air tube that feeds air directly from the nose to it. A shroud is being designed to keep the air from rushing over the IC. If this is least efficient , then I will move forward to getting a vented hood.

that's why I asked about meth. you're going to want it with that placement. with my shitty intake placement I see 110-122 degree intake temps on a 70 degree day. that skyrockets to 177-240 if sitting at a light. with these 40 degree days I'm seeing 89 degree intake temps while cruising the highway.

Yep, that is why I had to fabricate the tray and get it coated. Texas in the summer = crazy IAT's before. That is one reason why I want to see WOT track video or side by side runs of this car.

Thank you RM. My setup is similar to a turbo II setup. I was going for a sleeper setup.

IC, this may actually work nicely with a shroud, good thinking; depending on where you live it may be all that is necessary; I know it would probably be enough up here where I am.
If you do go the vented hood route I would try and dig up an old thread by Jeff (MazdaManiac) as he did a similar set up but ran shrouding to the bottom of his intercooler then vented it out through his hood; very similar to the top mount on a stock Subaru STI. I can't remember the name of the thread though.

Update: Car is running beautifully. 1 key starts hot or cold. Car stays at a nice constant 202 degrees. We were street tuning and got to 7 psi before she leans out. Even with a walbro 255 and ID 1000CC injectors its just not enough to compensate for the volume of air. So I am doing a return style fuel system and a secondary pump next week.
Even as is , the car comes alive at 2500 rpm and pulls pretty good till 5500. Feels funny having torque so low in the spectrum. Can't wait to get the fuel system done so we can finally tune her and get her on the dyno.

That sounds awefull low to be running out of fuel. Before you put in all the money of a return system check your fuel pressure. What g/sec are you pushing at 7 psi?

You have plenty of fuel pump and plenty of injector to go well past 7psi.

Did some googling, and it looks like AFR for methanol is 6.4 or 6.5:1, so we would need more than twice the fuel capacity compared to gasoline? Is it correct to assume this?

Update: fuel system came in finally after being back ordered, will be installed this weekend. Also I will be running methanol, when we was street testing the car, no methanol was being used. Car will be able to run ethanol also.
Car was leaning out on a base tune. Not a full tune. Remember we was just testing the car on the street to make sure she didn't overheat, etc.
Should be tuned within the next 2-3 weeks.
