5558 Precision Turbo build

Finally ventured to the FI world. Rohtech Motorsports built the motor for me. 95% complete. I'll be brief on what the motor has.

1.New housings and irons, 6 port (Builder specked out everything, micrometer , etc.)
2. Upgraded seals (All)
3. RA Black Super Apex seals
4.1000 CC injectors
5. BHR ignition w/10mm wires
6. 5558 Precision Turbo
7.43mm waste gate
8. V-Band bracing for intercooler and exhaust pipes
9. Haltech Sprint RE standalone.
10. Custom motor mounts.
11. Cable throttle to manual throttle body.
12. 4 inch exhaust
13. 2.75-3.00" Intercooler with piping
14. Meth injection kit.
15. ACT 6 puck clutch
16. Walbro 255 (possibly changing that to a bigger pump)

Its 95% complete. Gauges work, A/C works, and it starts without hesitation. The bad, the master cylinder blew and we noticed a small leak from the coolant tank. So awaiting on parts. Should be driving by Christmas( break in then dyno tuned).

Just wanted to give you guys an update. Oh his last RX-8 build, auto RX-8 that he made Turbo, Haltech tuned, made 420 WHP. That turbo was a small Greddy turbo that came with the Greddy RX-8 kit. 2 years later that car is still being driven pretty hard. Very hopeful on my build. I'll have pics in the next week or so where everything is nice and pretty.

You can call Rohtech and speak to the owner directly.

Why would I ?
If you have been following these forums you will know that 400whp on a 6 port manual has been increadibly difficult to achieve . You would also know that to claim to have made 420 with a turbo that, on an auto ,is capable of about 230whp ,is just ....................................funny .

that's a decent turbo that will come online fast. The issue is going to be running the amount of boost it takes to make the power you want... I second all that Brett has said btw

You are talking the guy who had holes drilled into his housings as a type of bridgeport by his epic experienced builder and thought it was perfectly fine to rev to 10,000RPM,

I'm shooting for 385 WHP min , max 450 WHP. I went with a side turbo setup for instant boost, thrust and throttle response. Can't guess on the psi until we actually dyno tune.

This is true . It worked for a year then failed. The cause of the motor to fail was not only poor work on the previous builder but my SSV actuator was sealed frozen with carbon. Along with improper oil seal lengths, etc. my current builder laughed and said nooooooo! So it was a ambitious idea but failed.

That sounds like the dyno turblown uses that makes 500WHP at 12 psi. I highly recommend you get it dynoed on a second machine before you go around saying you have x hp

I am pretty sure Titan Motorsports dyno is pretty accurate. That's the dyno he uses.
