Ebay shops have good deals--go search for what u want on Sounddomain and Crutchfield--then cross reference the prices on ebay.

Best Buy is over priced...you can't go wrong with Ebay..since I left the car installation and sales business and can't use my wholesale accounts anymore I go to Ebay...I have never had a bad experience with "doing it Ebay"..as long as you check the vendors feedback and if they have a B&M store that makes it all the better for Ebay purchases...try it ..you will become addicted my brother!

Umm, keep in mind tho...if you dont buy from an authorized dealer, that voids your warranty.SO unless your buying anything other than JL (WORST WARRANTY POLICY EVER!) you should go authorized!

How does JL have the worst warranty policy? I'm just curious in case I decide to buy their subs.

Theyr 1 company that almost never replaces or repairs theyr subs (when you send it to them during the 1 year warranty) if it blows or from regular wear n tear. They almost always assume that the user was at fault in some way!.Theyr warranty is useless.

How long ago did you experience that? I must admit I have alterior motives. I work for a JL dealer, and my view has always been that they've taken care of the customer. But then again it might just be my company that has taken care of the customer! I know that we almost stopped carrying JL because they tried to make their warranty policy really harsh and short. So we got them to change it to something more reasonable.

HMMM. My 10w6 blew a few months ago, my (authotized) dealer sent it in and 1 month later JL sent it back and said theyr not repairing it because it was my fault. My dealer tried to convince them it was regular wear n tear but JL wasnt goin for that. The hell with JL, i went with another brand.

Shoot. Can't blame you there. If it's the 1st time a speaker is blown my company just replaces it in most cases. Then if it's either old or the 2nd time, then we send it in. I've never had JL not replace or fix it. Maybe it's because we tell them it's blown, and not the customers fault.... Was the stereo installed by you, or the company that sold you the JL? (If I'm being nosy, just tell me to shove off. I won't mind.)

Man, that sucks. JL is really good to us when we install a stereo. Since we put it in, we say it couldn't be customer abuse. We tune it and install it so if it does break, it's a manufacturer defect. I wish I could help, but it sounds like you just got the short end of the stick. Have you already purchased a new sub? I personally was looking at JL or Alpine (I have 3 Alpine subs in my closet that I could use. They just weigh a lot, and take a ton of power to get decent output.) There are a ton of sub companies out there, but none as big or as well known as JL as far as my research goes. But there are definately better sub companies. As far as value goes though... I'm not sure. But now that you're having troubles with JL, I don't want to have the same problems. And they are much less likely to help out a guy like me (paying cost for the sub and all). They tend to help paying customers first, and put guys like me last in the customer service line.

JL needs to re-evaluate theyr policy! i paid damn near retail to get my parts warrantied and they gave me no break. This is what i replaced it with http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=13934
mainly because my dealer gave me a big break on the price. No complaints so far.

I'm a big fan of www.crutchfield.com for car audio. They have an awesome shipping policy and huge selection--not gonna find prices competitive with Ebay, though.

but any car stereo shop will beat Crutchfield prices...they are expensive...

You are true about the JL stuff...when I owned my shop they were the worst people to deal with. If we didn't install the speaker and amps and all, they would give us $hit about replacing or warranty on the speakers...I had to threaten discontinuing the sales of their stuff numerous time in order to be able to keep MY customers happy...it was crazy...now someone who is great with service is Rockford...you can't beat their service...Image Dynamics as well...but then again if you pay that much for a freaking speaker you damn well better have close to platinum service to go with them..

JL is horrible when it comes to covering their equipment. They wouldn't cover an amp that fried, stating that it was not mounted in a well vented air in the car....then claimed I spilled something on it....yes I frequently layed in my trunk and chugged beers. And that was when I was a certified installer. Go Boston or Kicker.....they cover there equip fully.

I don't know about that. There were some 6W0s that were sent to a shop in Dallas that had problems, and all of them were replaced under warranty, regardless of whether the shop or their customers installed them.

Two things.....it may all depend on who you talk to on any given day. Or....and we did this alot, the dealer who sold them to you replaces them and they deal with the manufacturer. We can usually make up some bull and get a credit from the manu. ???? Eclipse is one that easily replaces what becomes defect. JL...we had to make up some things from time to time.
