Hey guys, I've been scrolling through the audio section on the forums and see a lot of unanswered questions that were posted a few years back. It would be useless to respond to them now but if anyone has any go ahead and post them here. I install car audio, remote starts, tints, keyless entry... if its electrical I may have a solution for you. Heres what my 8 audio system looks like!

How did you put the LED lights to light the far, and tell me how difficult was it to hook up the radio and sound system, what size speakers you used, size subwoofer, etc thanks

Sorry to get back to you so late bud.

I believe what LEDs you're speaking of are the floor wells. Those leds are actually a bit more pricey than you can find online because they have a bit better wiring. They are standard LEDs from auto zone. To power them, I used the little light in the cigarette tray, under the stereo, which only turns on when the headlights are turned on. That way they are not running at all times.

The radio and sound system for this car are slight more of a PITA than most.. The factory stereo is not impossible, but hard to get out. Once out you're golden. You can find the removal instructions here: .

I use a 12" Polk subwoofer. It has great lows and I have it faced towards the cabin in the trunk. What I did was I got a cheap 12" inclosure from BestBuy, which if you remove the trunk release latch it fits in the back perfectly when pushed up against the back seats. I removed the center council thing so the sub can play freely and it can be seen from the cabin.

I have the Polk 660 4-Channel amp for the Kenwood speakers and an Alpine 1200W amp powering my subwoofer. Pioneer 8500AVH head unit (Pioneer I would say is the best head units. Quality is great. Minus the App Radio which is garbage.)

Ok so I still have my sub and amp from my old car and have been dying to install in my 8. However, I think I need to get a new harness? My old car was a 1998 Honda Civic but I had a pioneer head unit on there and I remember I had to get a harness. For the time being, I don't plan on replacing the head unit on my 8 because it would be pretty expensive. Anyways, I guess my question is do I need a harness for my amp/sub and where can I get it at a good price? I have a 2005 GT

I have a viper smart start alarm system installed by best buy in a manual 8. Originally the guy who installed it made it so that I could just start the car remotely no matter what. When I took it back to get it fixed a new guy said he had to "do it the right way", which basically meant I have to step on the brake 3 times, pull the parking brake, make sure it's in neutral and hit the remote start button on my key fob BEFORE I turn off the car, get out and lock it (then the car shuts off by itself) otherwise it won't remote start at all. So, major pain in the ***. So much so I don't even use it anymore. Is there a way to get it back to the way it was? I mean, I never leave my car in gear and always have the parking brake on.

Your answer is in the FAQ at the top of the forum. You don't need any special RX8 harness. A simple $20 line output converter is all you need.
Kudos to the 2nd guy at Best Buy. That's the way a remote start system should be installed in a manual transmission vehicle. I know I don't need to be your daddy and everybody always swears they'll never leave the car in gear.....but it only takes once. One time you let your friend drive. One time your girlfriend bumps it into gear while digging through her huge purse. ONE TIME is all it takes to kill somebody or cause serious property damage. To cap it off, the installer is part of a multi-million dollar company. He cannot risk a lawsuit because you're too lazy to perform a proper shutdown procedure if you're going to remote start it. I mean really.... it's 3 pumps of the brake and a button push. So much work.

@Luigi741 He's correct. LOC is the way to go in the 8. If you go into your local Best Buy with an Install Bay, we usually would give em to you for $15.

@Matrx8 Thats the way the Viper system requires its setup. I too first believed, "Why the hell do I need to do this. I'll wire it the way I want and be done with it. I never stop my car in gear let alone don't leave the parking brake on." Then my buddy two weeks later remote started his car and it crashed into his garage door. We're human we forget. Keep it how it is for the sake of the 8.

Disregard that last comment, I went to one yesterday and got the line output converter. So now I have another question haha. I have a kicker CompR 12" sub and the current box is too big for the trunk. Can I just get a truck box? I know there has to be some regard for dimensions so that the subwoofer doesn't blow. Also, it seems like everyone takes out the spare. Could I keep it in there as well?

99% chance you're going to lose the spare. There are some sub enclosures for 8s that fit into the sides of the trunk but as for matching recommended dimensions, you're probably not going to make it. From what I've found, a lot of 12" boxes do not fit in the trunk because of the top support beam right behind the back seats.

I however has a 12" in my trunk that I face towards the cabin. I happened to find a box that literally fits perfectly under the support beam with a good shove. That way I know it won't tumble around. Takes a good portion of the trunk however. I could probably fit 2 of those boxes but it would be a b*tch to get in. I already have to remove my trunk release and the weather stripping on the trunk border just to get the box in. Thats how tight of a fit it is.

Get a ZenEnclosures box and be done with it. Completely reasonably priced and fits the 8 flawlessly.

If you're worried about airspace, then a truck box is the last thing you need. Most are under 1cuft of space. Kicker recommends 1cuft to 4.6cuft for the 12" CompR. It's just a sealed box. TONS of flexibility when it comes to airspace.
