Search around, several people have posted their experiences. From memory, I THINK the fronts are something odd like 5x8 (but most people are making a mounting plate out of lexan or something, and using a 6.5) and the rears I believe are 6x9. Of course, many 6x9s don't seem to be complete drop-ins for some reason. I haven't done this yet but its on my list.

I juzz did that, it didn't cross my mind to search for "base system" until after I started this.
I m a bit confused though. Most threads here says the front are 6x8. I did asked my agent and he told me both front and rear speakers are 6.5".
I am in Singapore and we are getting the Euro version RX8. Our base system does have the in dash 6 Disc changer. So are the base system between Euro and US version the same?

Front speaker is kinda wierd size ie cant really get from market. behind is 6x9.
One advice for those getting from MM. Change the speaker & feel d difference.
Had changed mine to component speaker for both front & back, & throw in another active subwoofer. Using the existing stock wiring. Without any amp, it already sound impressive.
hoks -- can check it out if u interested..

forgot to mention, the magnet for the stock speaker is very small & light. I changed all to 5 or 6 inch (cant rem exactly ;p ) & the shop will be able to mount using existing hole.

I juzz got mine done. Its opposite Beauty World at Upper Buikit Timah, along the row of foodstalls. Mine is the first one they did so by now they should hv some experience in doing RX-8.
Alternatively, there's another place around Deskar road, a friend told me she always see an 8 parked outside a car stereo shop, so I guess that must be the shop owner. When I drove pass recently I saw a white one in it, they must have plenty of expeirence.
Hope the above helps.
