Does anybody know how to activate the Tape/MD button on the radio? I have the RX-8 2004 w/nav, 6 disk and I'm trying to hook up the Axxess - Mazda Aux In (MZ-AUX-01) w/RCA. But its locking out the CD player button and the Tape/MD doesn't work?

Hi, I ended up choosing this hack since Mazda won't update my firmware.
I use it with my MP3 player and it sound good with the direct connection to the CD circuit. Used Radio Shack female input on faceplate.

yea ok i might give that a go or order the pie kit from mazda parts, my car is a my 2006 so im not sure if even the firmware is the issue!

Most input units must have factory unit’s firmware 9.55 or greater so check before ordering.

Q. How do I check the firmware on my Rx8?
A. Power the radio on, then press and hold the Text and Preset 1 buttons at the same time for a few seconds. The firmware will be displayed on your digital display.

Also check different i-pod units on the market. Some have the capability of display info on radio screen and work with the steering wheel radio controls.

The last I read about the Mazda pie from Mazda didn't get good reviews so do your research first .
