It has not been dynomatted and the trunk does rattle but not too bad. I will dynomatt it soon. The subs have not affected the bose system at all. They seem to work good together. The bass sounds great
Mikeb, ask EASTMOON about the "flat cover" you can get for that cubby hole, that way you could use the rest of the trunk space without squishing the Amp.
The amp is 600 watts and two channels.
Each sub takes 300 watts they are JL audio w3 subs.
Total price for the box, 2 subs, amp, custom amp tray cover and installation was $700.00
The rear speakers were not tapped into. The subs sound great and I haven't had any problems with the bose speakers. I had a shop here in cali hook it up called advanced car creations.
if you didn't tap the speaker connections where is your input source scoming from -as there has been much speculation on the impedence of the BOSE system..Did you connect directly to the rear amp/xover--if so where and at what output/impedence rating?

Like I was saying the shop did the install so I can't say for sure. But I don't think they tapped into any of the stock bose system. They just added the amp and subs and of course the ground, remote, power wires and rca wires.
I went to tweeter last week and they said you can tap into the rear speakers without splicing the wires. I don't know what kind of connection it is, but the new amps have automatic sensors that judge when its getting power and can "figuratively jump right into the music" and have it sound great. I was looking at putting the same speakers in but only 10's. They would fit in on the side where there is a reasonable indentation in the sides of the trunk. They can custom make a casing for them and showed me before and after shots of similar trunk set ups. They said its not that hard to tap into a bose system if you buy the better equipment. I think after all is said and done it will be $350 for the amp and install and another $500 for the two subs. I have to get two enclosures made since one 10 will go in both sides. I think it might eliminate my ability for a golf bag though. I thought about putting them back against the seat, but that would eliminate the advantage of being able to go from the back seat to the trunk. I like to fish, and need to be able to put fishing poles through the rear seats. I'll probably get that work done in the next two weeks and post pics when I'm done.
You guys are right. I was looking at my subs last night and the rear speakers is what the shop tapped into for my system. I will take pics later. btw the subs sound really good
