stuck on my sound project

i have a pioneer 1000 watt amp, two 12" pioneer subs and a box that fits. I took it to my friend who does sound as a hobbie. He ran into a few problems, here is the list

-he could not figure out how to remove the head unit, he says it basically built in
-he told me somthing about the car not having ac connections and so it wouldn't be possible to connect the amp unless i bought a cd player and that I was looking to spend another $400 dollars or so.

Anyone have any suggestions, please help

you shouldnt have to touch the headunit. you can tap the rear speakers and run a hi/lo converter. When i had a system, all i did was connect a hi/lo converter. the hi/lo converter gave me rca outputs which inputs to the amp. thats all you really need to do for the amp's sound source.

Maybe it would be a good idea to bring the car to a professional shop who actually know what they are doing...

Removal of the radio is only complicated until you find the 'bastard bolt' - see this thread: DIY: Radio Removal / Add an AUX Input

yeah get your friend AWAY from your car immediately, if you have the BOSE system he could only screw something up by trying to pull sound from the HU, he should be looking to the amp in the trunk (like others have said)

see if there are other members from the club that live near you and could help you out, what state are you in?
