Replacing 6-disk Changer with mp3 cd player???

does anyone know where would i be able to change my 6-disk changer that came with my 04 for an mp3 cd player one... I never liked the disk changers and i preffer to listen the mp3 songs anyway... it's only one disk so it's better.

Would a dealer maybe replace it? Which year does the mp3 cd player come with anyway?

Thanks.

The dealer would replace it for you no problem, albeit it'll cost an arm and a leg. If you're a bit mechanically inclined, you can buy the MP3 player cheaper at one of the online dealers and replace the changer yourself. You might then be able to sell your changer here on the forum or eBay etc.
The MP3 player is an accessory for any year RX-8. It did not come as standard equipment on any trim level, but as an upgrade.

It's a fairly straight forward procedure. Getting the headunit out and pulling off the connectors is a PITA! Just unscrew about a dozen screws, swap out CD changer for MP3 player and put everything back together. 1 hour if you're good. 2 hours if you have never done it before and if you have big hands.

I'm not asking how to do it... All i'm wandering if anyone knows someone who is willing to do a trade, or if the dealer could replace it without charge since disk changer costs more...

Trust me, i know how to replace a stereo unit.
