Radio/Climate Control Lights very dim

Hey Guys,

I just installed an audiolink system in my car and after I put everything back together and took it out for a spin I noticed that the lights on the radio and the climate control are EXTREMELY dim. So dim that you can barely tell they are lit. I checked the dimmer and its set to the highest position. The dash lights are fine and the LCD panel above the radio looks fine until I turn the lights on. When I turn the lights on the LCD panel also goes VERY dim.

All of the controls on the radio and climate control work, but the lighting is messed up. Any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks!

I'm assuming that it was okay when you started...
Did you disconnect the battery before you took apart the dash?
Did you pull off all of the connectors when pulled out the HU?

Best guess is that one connectors is not seated properly, causing resistance. You may be able to check the connectors by removing the glove box and looking in to the back of the HU.

Sounds like you may have a wire shorting or open somewhere causing a voltage "leak". The lights may be dim because they are not getting enough power to make them glow at normal intensity. I would re-check all of the electrical connections that you had to disconnect/reconnect. You may also want to pull out the head unit again and make sure that you didn't pinch, short or disconnect any wires. Lastly, make sure that you've replaced all of the bolts/screws/etc so that you've got a good ground. A bad ground connection could do this as well.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I was thinking that it was probably a loose connection somewhere. I will take a look at it in a few days and let you know if there are any other issues. Thanks again!
