Pioneer Avic Dxxx/Zxxx background thread

Well I originally was going to get the JVC AVW-810, believe it or not JVC makes some bulletproof decks, since I already have factory nav this was going to be my choice......until the D3 went on sale for 599 at circuit city...and best buy matched their price for me, after that I now own a D3!

I know there's a bunch of folks on here with d3's or z2's or something or other and some of y'all have probably put your own images as the backgrounds so since I've searched www.avic411.com for something cool to put on mine and didn't really like what I found (next to no Mazda stuff) maybe we can post some up here for current/future owners

As far as my impression of the D3, my only gripe would be the nav being on disc, and having to switch it out to listen to cds etc. but I didn't buy it for the nav anyway so it's pretty irrelevant to me (plus it runs on memory withotu the disc anyway). I haven't installed it yet, but when I do I'll post pictures, I'm also going to be making some background of my own so I'll throw those up at some point as well

hmmm, maybe not enough people interested in changing out backgrounds, or too lazy to contribute, ( ) either way, I'm going to try making some today and putting them up here for other folks to use, I'll be using this site for the images:

http://media.mazda.ch/dossiers/Wanke...Wankel%20D.htm

I read that 1000x480 actually turns out better than 540x240 so we'll see how that works.

I'd like to see some HOT RX8 wallpapers. If you search through that thread on avic411 for my username, I posted up one very nice RX8 one. Far to lazy to hunt it down myself right now. lol

okay, I created a ****-ton today, 48 in all, I used pics I found, mass-resized them down to 1000xascloseto480asicouldget, then used paint (crude I know, but I think they came out good enough for a small 6 inch screen) I did a bunch of rotary stuff, plus some other car pictures that I thought were cool, so here we go!

some more below

okay, last 2

So I haven't tested these yet nor do I know how they work, but since I couldn't find any already made I liked I figured I'd give it a go, not sure all 40something images will show up for me to peruse when I burn them to a cd and try it, but hopefully I can use some or this thread maybe gives other Avic owners on here some inspiration to make some stuff

sure thing, I can't wait to get off work and go out to the car and try them, I totally love the idea I can personalize my radio, some of that stock stuff leaves a lot to be desired.

just a note to say these work and look badass, I put them all on a cd (you have to have 1.80mb on it for the player to recognize, larger number for dvd's), went into my nav settings and said "import from disk" and bam, I could choose from about 12 or so and they look amazing

Ideally I think what I'm going to do is make about 4 cds with 12 apiece so I can use them all later down the road. I might also check out deviantart or some fractal websites as some of those might make good backgrounds as well.

I have an interesting idea for a wallpaper. Why not take a picture of the OEM headunit with its circular design and use that as a background? It'd certainly keep the 'factory' feel!

^^ that would be awesome

okay, so I figured it all out yesterday, radio only reads 20 images at a time, so I made a couple of different cds (cd-rws to be exact as 2-4mb on a cd is wack) with 20 images apiece and every single one worked, some of those up above turned out awesome, some of them I put the logo a bit too close to the edge of the pic so it almost gets cut off, the 1000x480 size looks perfect, 500x240 is the "recommended" size but I heard it can stretch some pics etc. You can actually go up to 2048xsomething, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to look at 1/4 of your background while you drive I'll be taking pics once we get everything put back together

I had some fun with the Furai threw in a couple of others for good measure too. My dash is off at the painter right now or I'd take some pics of these on the radio, when I get everything back in the car I'll post up some pic action, it's funny driving around with part of the interior taken apart, girl at the drive thru asked me today if my car had been robbed
