Pac-swi ps

Im installing a new double din today, got the metra kit and everything all ready to go. My only only question is on my pac unit, i dont understand where i need to run the white wire too. I understand that it needs power and ground but where do i wire the third one to ? Do i have to cut into the cars wiring somewhere? Thanks guys.

if you call them they will tell you or you can look it up on the internet. I think it goes to plug 19 on your metra kit and you have to ground plug 20. Or that could be vise versa, I got that part done but couldn't program it right. I called METRA and that unit you have was outsourced to PAC. So I called them and they didn't help me fix the problem so I sent that back to whomever I got that from and they sent me the new unit which METRA does make which is the Axxess Integration device, ASWC. I have not tried to insall that just yet.
Good luck though and let me know if that unit actually works for you.

i just installed my the other day:

connect the white wire to pin 9 on the original wire harness, the black wire to goes to ground and the red wire goes to a power source, oh yeah you have to ground pin 10 as well. once you to do that programming is easy. hope this helps

Hooked everything up like they said too on their website.
Their website says to hook white wire to pin 10 and to ground pin 9,
Everything else says to do the opposite, to hook white wire to pin 9 and ground 10.
I did the first one and it's not working. I assume I should hook the white wire to pin 9 and ground 10 even though thats not what their website says?

the instructions worked correctly for me. it was these:
http://pac-audio.com/swixprogramming...Vehicles&ID=92

once you have connected the white wire to pin 10, and ground to pin 9, did you do connect the red wire to a +12v source?

once you have everything connected, you should have white, red and black connected and none of the loops have been cut (green, yellow, orange and blue wires are not used).

next, is the indicator light on the unit turning on when you turn the car to 'on'? did you try to program for version #3 as indicated in the instructions?

Indeed i did those directions exactly like that.
I programmed it to version 3 but when i try to program the steering wheel buttons it doesn't work correctly. Once the light comes on i hold the volume up button for the first step and then once it goes off I hold it for about a second more and it says the light should come back on, but it never does.
i guess I need to check my connections again but I will feel quite sure they are correct.

if you are getting the lights then it is most likely connected and working fine. when it comes to the instructions, i found that you don't really need to hold the button on the steering wheel down like it says. just press the button firmly (no need to hold it down) and just follow the list found in the link above. just press the button on the unit to skip an option. once you are done, it'll flash three times and it is set. you don't need to do steps 10-13 if you aren't programming any of them. you can just wait the 7 seconds and it should flash 3 times or if you are really impatient, just press the button on the unit to skip them.

they seem to make the instructions much more complicated than they should be. after programming it a couple times, it seemed so simple.

hey i had the same problem, please connect white wire to pin 9 and ground pin 10. you still have to connect the red wire and black.

if you don't ground pin 10 you will not be able to program. your are having the exact same problem i was having, when i connected the white wire to pin 9, red wire to power, and black to ground, and i didn't ground pin 10. the results were like this: program to version 3, lights will blink three times to confirmed, when you hold the volume button down and hold it would take the left light to go off around 7 seconds, and then nothing no others will come on.

Once i grounded pin 10 everything worked great!!! good luck

The light just doesn't come back on after pressing the volume up for the 1st step in programming.
I tried holding and just pressing once firmly.
I guess I need to yank the hole thing out again and check my connections

Wiring: White goes to pin 9 (green w/ white stripe), red goes to 12v Switched (should be the only wire on the same row as the large black ground, non-Bose factory harness or bose factory harness), black connects with pin 10 wire (red w/ black stripe) and both black and pin 10 wires need to tee in to large black ground wire on the factory harness.

After you get the wiring right, programming takes less than a minute.
