need advice for sound.

so i feel my bose system is lacking. i like the sound more with a sub in the back. it's a jl sub in a 4080 box so what ever size that is. but i don't want to lose the room in the trunk. if i just replace the rear speakers can i get the same effect? if yes, what speakers?

thanks
jack

Infinity kappa's will do down to 50Hz (box says 35Hz, but good luck finding a high pass crossover for that) or so, depending on how loud you want them to be. They are your best bet, and you won't get the punch you want out of them. The JL sub will handle from 20-70Hz

So you have a 10" JL in a 4080 box..... but dont want to use it?

Not sure if you'll really notice much extra lowend from just switching out the rear 6x9's. I wouldn't think it would be worth the money/effort. And if you really want a highpass crossover @ 35Hz, make your own. Should only be maybe $10.

forgot to write that the sub was in my friends car.

i guess i'll look into the infinity basslink more. but what sub boxes are that size? most of the ones i see are more tall or wide.

the 4080 boxes are one of the best options available for adding bass and not losing too much trunk space. Trust me, I have TWO of them.

+1 to the Infinity Kappas, those are GREAT speakers. They probably won't give you the bass you seek but are a great compliment to the bose system.
(check my Stereo upgrade thread for pics of my install if you like)

yeah. Even with the infinity kappa's I've got in my rear deck, you get the sound range somewhat but no punch to it.

You just cannot get good, mirror shaking bass without a sub.
