Nav System Question

Is there a chip or something that can allow you to play something other than the Navi disc? Just wondering. Also sometimes my bose speakers seem like that fade in and out slightly. Is there something I can add, do, or replace to get a better sound without blowing the speakers out?

If you have the 6-disk CD changer you may have the AudioPilot option turned on. Press the Text dial/button and look at the first option. Turn the Text **** to cycle between off and on. I don't think it works very well. It is supposed to automatically change the volume based on cabin noise level but the volume changes the wrong way from what I think it should half the time. I don't have the Nav option but I don't think the player can be modified to play anything else. Someone else will have to chime in on that one to be sure.

That feature is avail on the CD/MP3 also. Perhaps it's BOSE or non-BOSE that determines if you have AudioPilot?

The Nav can be upgraded to play dvd's etc but it requires an adaptor. I'm pretty sure www.mazdaparts.com has it.

As for the volume changing, that is one of my favorite options. The speakers on the driver side will lower their volume a bit so you can better hear the voice directions that the Nav is giving out. When it is done giving you the command, the volume goes back up to normal.

do a search. I know there is one guy who added something (that can play DVD movies, backup camera, etc) with full install instructions (i think).
