Love your seats. I want to go that route but I could not bare losing the cheap plastic rotors after so many compliments. I'm sure my friends would understand after sitting in lush comfort like yours. Are your new seats really that much lighter than stock?

the cloth manual RX-8 seat is actually very light, with all the mounting brackets & hardware it's 39#, about 15lb of that is the bracket/hardware which includes not only an adjustable back and sliders, but the height adjustment of the lower seat too. For reference, a Wedge Engineering racing seat mount with sliders for aftermarket racing seat installations weighs about 12 lb. Mazda really did their homework well on the OE seats
the hard part of aftermarket seats in the RX-8 is getting them to sit low enough. There is a raised floorpan brace several inches high that runs underneath the forward part of the RX-8 seats. The bottom of the OE seat (your butt area) sits down below the brace when the seat is fully lowered, just barely above the floorpan. Most aftermarket seat brackets/braces don't allow the aftermarket seat to sit below the slider level like the OE seats do and the slider has to pass over the top of the floorpan brace.

Maybe, if the seat has bottom mounts similar to the OE seat you might be able to adapt it. Most racing seats have side mounts though (like my Braille/Recaro seats) and that won't happen without a lot of custom fabrication. First hand experience ...
