Metra kit with nexus 7 tablet install
Just installed my double din Metra kit with a nexus 7 tablet installed in it. I was impressed with the Metra kit, installed very easy. I also purchased a Car Stereo Receiver with Wireless App Control
SCDBTA60 made by Scosche, and installed it in the glovebox. The nexus 7 is connected by usb, and can control the receiver with an app called controlFREQ. I haven't taken any pics yet but I will soon. So far everything works great, except every time you start the car you have to connect manually to the receiver by bluetooth, wich is a little pain.

To install the tablet I had to carefully shave the top of the fan and heater controls and also the blower vent to get it to fit. I rigged two L shaped aluminum brackets I had laying around, wrapped them with electrical tape to keep from scratching the tablet. and screwed them to top of the heater control. If someone tries this, keep in mind you have to be very careful not to ruin your heater control. With some trial and error I adjusted the brackets so the tablet would slide in and stay put.
To install the receiver in the glove box I had to cut the back side of the glove box, and buy a extension cable for the antena. All the rest of the wires were long enough using the metra kit. This install was somewhat quick just to try out the setup. I will be thinking of a better way to slide the tablet in the metra kit and mount the receiver in the glove box better. One of the problems I had was the power cord for the tablet is a little long and had to slide the tablet over, off center to get it to sit in. I will be ordering a angled power adapter to hopefully rectify the problem.

Little update. After using the Scosche stereo for a bit and getting frustrated with using it I decided to switch to a PIONEER DEH-P8400BH. I dont have the ability to tell what tuner station is on unlike the app stereo, but playing bluetooth audio is so much nicer on the other deck. The steering wheel control unit I bought originaly I couldnt use with the Scosche stereo, and with the new deck works great. Sound from the new deck is like night and day difference also. This has been a trial and error for me, but so far after the switch i'm very pleased with the results.

I left the switch out and just placed the plastic hazard button in just to cover the hole. I cut into the switch about 3/16".
