EU Metra 95-7510HG kit

I have a few questions in regards to Metra 95-7510HG kit for rx8:

1) They claim that it works only for manual climate control. My rx8 has 3 ***** for climate control. One for auto and temperature and one for fan speed. How do I know if it is manual CC or not? Maybe because I have a button that will automtically adjust according to temperature, this means that it is not manual?

2) My hazard lights button is triangular and much bigger than the small rectangle hole I see in the picture for that kit. Will it still fit or is it different?

My rx8 is JDN import.

Here is the image. I also attached the image of the metra kit. Please see my hazard lights button and compare to the kit. Will it fit or do I have different type?

Also, see my climate controls. As you can see, the left **** has AUTO function. How can I tell from this if I have manual CC or not?

you have auto climate control. it will fit in the faceplate but the interface box that comes with the kit wont allow your AC controls to operate.
the square hole in the hazard button just allows the back of the switch to fit through. yours is the same as "ours".

Thanks, has anyone else with Auto CC managed to install an audio system either with the metra kit or another one? In other words, do I have other options without losing my CC functionality or should I just stop thinking about it for now?

you can try researching the Kanatech kit. its more pricey, but i'm not sure exactly if it works with auto CC either. Corksport sells Kanatech kits.

I Finally Managed to Install METRA 95-7510 with Auto Aircon!

Hello Teamsters

After 9 months of tick tacking with METRA my persistance paid off and I have a fully working double din install with Auto Air - and is cool as now I have my head unit with NAV, TV, DVD, Bluetooth, Reverse Cam, Music, Radio, Internet, Games, IPOD etc, I am happy as larry

So here are the perls of wisdom for an AUTO AIRCON install:

1. The METRA Control unit must have a serial number of 257210F2.0 or greater where F2.0 is the software version number so it MUST be F2.0 or greater! anything below may damage your unit!

Note: this version also works with manual aircon no problem

2. Even with the right unit your instructions may be incorrect my correct unit came with the wrong instructions on page 6 which were missing was the instruction to program the METRA unit to the Auto Aircon. The instruction should be:

"when you start the car press and hold the auto button for 10 seconds - this will program the unit to your auto aircon"

If you have manual aircon you do not need to do this.

3. If you have had your unit in the car for some time without follpwing the above some of you may realise that the fan control and temp control do not work. In this case disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to let the capacitors drain down in the METRA unit and start again and follow the above.

If you have any questions the Metra Team are reall good email toddd@metra-autosound.com for help

Some other issues I had:

1. The double din unit was too large for the METRA slot - the auto electrician just cut the hole bigger no problem

2. The RX-8 base stereo has a head amp separate for the OEM CD / radio unit which if you leave that in will whine like hell with new stereos and your volume will be mega load and distorted. Ensure your Auto Electrician bypasses the stereo.

So total cost

$150 USD for METRA conversion kit
$500 for Auto Electrician
$500 for Radio
$50 for HD reversing camera
$60 for active antenna for TV (don't use the crap antenna that comes with the unit get an active one from Ebay)

Pricey maybe but awesome!

Metra kit HELP!

I successfully installed mine plus the steering controls and everything is working perfectly fine. but I'm having a BIG situation... The Manual included with the kit says to plug "the factory" LCD display cable on the back of the axxess unit but the cable end plug is BIGGER than the axxess port where it's supposed to fit.

Does anyone knows if there's maybe an adapter or something??? I can't stand not having the LCD screen display anymore

Look to the OEM stereo

Did you ever figure this out? You have to remove the cable from the OEM stereo. It was buried in my Metra kit instructions. there's a metal guard that you unscrew and some tape to cut through.
