DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A PILLER GAUGE POD ...DUAL POD FOR THE RX-8

I'm not sure if there is an a-pillar gauge for the 8.
I think your other question is if I would duel you for an rx8. What trim level and what options? Is it an '05? What kind of weapons? :p
Or do you mean dual?
If you don't have nav, there's a tray for 3 gauges. I've also seen dual gauges in the ashtray. I thought there were airbags in the way of any a-pillar gauges. Dunno.

Shane the problem I'm sure others are running into is that the rx8's have airbag thingys in the a pillar which means its a safety issue to make the pod on the a-pillar. So you might not see one for a while until autometer makes one because they are the only ones with enough time and money to design a pod and test it (wreck an rx8) and make sure it doesn't disrupt the safety regulations.

See no airbag problems I can even send you a copy of the service manual entry on servicing the airbags...you don't even have to touch the A-pillar cover :D now start making these A-pillar Gauges and we will DEFINITELY start buying them:

Just wanted to show you all i found a R-Magic Pod way to expensive for what it is ..... i am goin to make my own out of fiberglass for right there but here is the website

I have a A-Pillar gauge pod from www.cftype.com that look a lot like the ones posted by Xdeedubbx from Carbon Trix.....don't do it. The quality of the cftype was OK, but the blasted thing just wouldn't stay on. We tried double sided tape, we tried silicon. Only way to get those damn things to stay was to drill them in, then you will run into the headache if your airbag deploys you will get hit in the face with a big piece of CF & 2 gauges (OUCH). You will have a problem if the airbag deploys because it will blow out & back. Also the top & bottom of the CF pillars do not match the post in the RX8. You will have exposed plastic (grey trim).
I wound up ordering the dual 60 mm R Magic gauge pod from RX8garage.net. If I had known how long it was going to take (been about 8 weeks now) & that PTP had come out with their unit I might have thought twice.

Fanman, go back and look at the pictures posted (this thread and others) showing how the airbag deploys. The A-pillar should not be a problem in that scenario.
I had an Autometer plastic dual A-pillar pod for my FD. They gave plastic fasteners but they didn't hold and I had to use screws. This fit over the stock A-piller however. Another problem was that the plastic warped a bit in the summer sun. Not sure if a similar item is available for the 8 yet, but I can't really recommend it based on my experience.

I saw the pictures that you posted but if you look at your piller it is still covered by a plstic cover. In event that it has to deploy it has to blow out & then back. If there is a CF A pillar gauge pod there is a very real chance that when the air bag deploys it will hit the driver. Even if the airbag goes back along the side of the car, the "opening" force to deploy it will open up outwards not backwards. The pillar is still attached to the car so would blow towards the front window, but a gauge pod that is not stock, and not firmly attached to the front of the car will probably blow out towards the driver's face, shoulder because of the angle it is positioned in (45 degree angle towards the driver).

But the airbag isn't IN the A-pillar...its not under that cover at all from what I can tell. OH, I think I see what you're saying....hmmm. I could have sworn I saw a post-deployment picture somewhere and the A-pillar didn't budge. Anyone have that handy?

and yes they do come out of the headliner/roof...I'm going to find a video of it so we can end this non-sense
I've taken off the A-pillar and there is nothing in there but a small 'bolt' with a small rope on it that leads into the headliner

i've mounted 3 defi gauges in my a-pillar. there is no airbag in the a-pillar it is in the roof. i have no idea why people still think it's in the a-pillar. just take your a-pillar off (takes 1 min) and look for yourselves since no one believes they aren't there:p. hehe

There is no air bag in the PILLER at all .... and i took the headliner out of my car to wrap it .... you can doo all that its fine .... i just need a gauge pod that fits on my piller
