audiolink and the ipod touch are not friends. there's nothing "wrong" with it, it's just apples way of making manufactures buy more expensive parts from them instead of making their own.

Actually it's because apple went from having charging using firewire and usb to only usb. This decision was made years ago but firewire was kept for a few years. But lots of 3rd part charging solutions hasn't bothered to follow apples guidline because it is a little more costly to charge via usb and its low-voltage if I remember correctly. They never stopped using the easier firewire solution so when apple finally has stopped supporting charging over firewire it is what it is. Apple can't be blamed for this one at least, perhaps there has been some lack of communication from apples part, I don't know. I blame the cheap manufacturers that don't follow apple guidelines.
The good thing is that there is some adapters that can be used to charge all new iPod and iPhones that no longer support charging over firewire.
The DICE iPod Integration kit I bought from iPod Car Pros does charge my 2nd gen iTouch. I did have to specify I wanted the "5 Volt Upgrade" for it though...
That fairly cheap had my OEM installed by Mazda nothing but problems since day one, regularly does not find the ipod although it plug in all the time in the glovebox, I lose my playlists and for some reason can't get to them again without resetting the ipod, but the playlist are on the ipod just can't get back to them. I've heard the audiolink is much better, but the charging thing is not the audiolink but the ipod, I believe. Did you check there web site for compatibility issues. http://www.audiolinkcanada.com/xcart...roductid=16133
