Unscrew the gear **** and replace it.

Or if there is a gap somewhere shover something in the gap (a piece of paper, card or chewing gum to stop it rattling

Don't want to replace the gear **** it's top expensive. This one has a light.

Super glue works great for about a week.

The gap is too small to fit anything in. Can you remove the metal part?

Mine does not have a light in it I would take it off and turn it over see if there is anything loose on the inside where the screw thread is. I am not sure how the metal top piece is attached there may be a securing screw on the inside but I doubt it.

You could always do what someone did to my car before I bought it and test drive an Rx8 and steal the gear ****. (joking)

What is it that's rattling, exactly? I've seen replacement caps on ebay...does the stock part pop off, or does the ebay cap go over top? If it pops off, try some of that "Automotive Goop" stuff...of buy a cap off ebay.

mind did the same thing, i put an extremely small amount of loctite on the edge connecting the chrome top to the shift boot. i forget the kind of loctite but its black when applied and is sorta like a rubber substance.
