How to deactivate the seat belt bip (alarm)
Hi guys,
I was wondering if somebody knows how to deactivate the annoying beep of the safety belt, while not fasten.
I would know how to activate or disactivate this security function, rather than waiting 2 noisy minutes of beeping.
I searched on the forum, but couldn't find any answer.
Thanks.

thanks for the answer.
I did find the thread ôn this topic.
I do also understand that having the seatbelt fasten is better.
I only would like to HAVE THE CHOICE to activate or disactivate the alarm.

My 05 rx8 doesnt ding. But if it's like the Mazda 3 then you turn the key to the on position, wait 4 seconds, buckle the seatbelt and wait a couple seconds then unbuckle it and start the car.
This will deactivate it until you turn the car off then on again. If you want it always off you have to have the dealer reprogram the computer.

Did anyone ever find an answer to this? I've no intention of driving anywhere without a seatbelt on, but I like to warm the car up in the morning which involves starting it before making myself at home. Right now that's accompanied by a little chorus of dings...

Ask your dealer to disable it. They charged me $40 for my '06 but it was worth it. Gets annoying if your just driving around a parking lot or move the car a bit for instance.

Absolutely! It is an inconvenience.
From a usability standpoint, I believe it's a tradeoff between the possible loss of life somewhere in the future and the immediate inconvenience. For most people, immediacy is king. It took many years and many more dollars (including legislation and its enforcement) before the masses got educated about its use in sufficient quantities to offset this immediate inconvenience.
I'm far from discouraging seatbelt use. I'm merely saying that the 10+ mph "ding" can be quite annoying and patronizing in some circumstances.
