Thumbs down Help Needed: Installation issues

I'm much better at listening to music than installing it, plus I'm a full time college student.

Anyone know of any places that would convert the bose in my '04 8 into some custom stuff such as a 6.5" and 4" in each door, 2 10" in trunk and a couple amps... every place i've been too wants no piece of it until the new Scosche kit comes out later this year, or they suggested running everything through the main channel which would sound like ****...

by the way... reasonable price

Take it to Switzerland. Talk to Scøfeld Häeur and tell him "Lemmy sent you". He'll hook you up.

Seriously. To even begin to give you advice on where to take it you need to let people know where you are. Also giving an idea or clue as to where you've already taken it would also help.

Another thing I'd like to know is what is your definition of "reasonable price"?

I've taken it to mainly major chains, circuit city.. etc. I wouldn't like to pay more for installation than the system costs, so about 1500 i guess

philly, by the way

Now someone in that area can recommend a shop to you!

In the future you might consider putting that kind of exceptionally important information into the original post/request!

If you're not looking to replace the factory head unit you should be able to find a shop that can do that work/install for $1500 or less. If you're looking to replace the factory head unit you could spend $1500 on that part of the install alone depending on exactly what you wanted done and how much of the climate controls you wanted to retain use of.

The factory head unit works fine for new audio system installs. I kept it with mine and it's been fine.

install thread

At some point I may replace the factory head unit. So far my only major complaint is that it doesn't read mp3 CDs as a standard feature. And I'm not going to drop $350+ for the Mazda mp3 version of the radio. Adding one of the aux-in modules will be cheaper and then I can connect my Zune to it. Problem solved.

I don't have time right now to read it all, but is your dash still all stock, and the only modification is the bass dial in the oven?

Keep the factory radio man. abouot 98% of the people in this forum did. No quality issues here with the execption of the firmware upgrade if yours doesnt have it.

Firmware is basically the type of software that is run on the headunit. I have an 04 as well and i believe ours is like 9.50. You need something like 9.55 to run most ipod adapters or whatever. You can get it upgrated at mazdaparts for like 95bucks. i thinks there may be a forum discount.
